Articles of agreement entered into this 15th day of Aug. 1842
between W M Wilson of the City of Richmond of the one part &
Alexr H. Rutherfoord of the said City of the other part-
Witnesseth--The said Wilson hereby agrees to execute for the said
Rutherfoord all the plaistering for a dwelling house just erected
by the said Rutherfoord in the said City on F Street and to
furnish all the materials for the same, which are to be of the
best description, & the whole work throughout the house to be
executed in a handsome & workmanlike manner, that is to say-- the
ceiling of the whole basement story and the walls of the store
room are to receive two coats of plaister--

The whole ceiling of the principal story and the walls of the
dining room & parlor (which rooms are not to be papered) to be
plaistered with three coats--the stair way also to receive three
coats, and the walls of the remainder of this story, viz. the
sitting room, passage & closet to receive two coats of plaister--
plain but neat centre pieces to be put up in the parlour, dining
room and passage--the outside walls of the parlour & dining room
to be lathed on stripping--

The ceiling throughout the second story to be plaistered with
three coats & the walls to receive two coats of plaister which
are not to be papered the outside walls of the two large chambers
to be lathed on stripping--

The said Wilson further agrees that the above mentioned work
shall be executed in a substantial & complete manner, so as to
give a handsome finish to the plaistering throughout the whole
house and more especially where the walls are not to be finished
for papering---

In consideration whereof the said [page break] Rutherfoord hereby
agrees to pay to the said Wilson the sum of two hundred and fifty
dollars

In addition to the above mentioned work the said Wilson has this
day agreed to execute for the said Rutherfoord the following--

To put up in the parlour & dining room a large & very handsome
Cornice, such as the said Wilson has described and assured the
said Rutherfoord will give satisfaction--

In the passage an ornamental centre piece; in the passage also, a
third coat of plaister to the walls which are to be whitened with
plaister of Paris similar to the principal rooms--

In the sitting room third coat of plaister also to be whitened
with plaister of Paris, so as to correspond with the parlour,
dining room and passage & c, it being understood that the walls &
ceiling of the principal story throughout are to be made white &
firm & to be in no respect inferior to the work done by the said
Wilson in the Second Baptist Church--

In the outhouse the two small rooms to be lathed and plaistered
with two coats of plaister--

In consideration of the above the said Rutherfoord hereby agrees
to pay to the said Wilson the sum of one hundred & seventeen
dollars and twenty cents and to dispense with the three centre
pieces mentioned in the foregoing contract.

Sept 10th twelve dollars to be added for a white coat to the 2d
story
$100 for the cornice
11.20 for the 3d coat of plaister & c to passage & sitting room
& 6.50 for the work on the out-house
